Chapter - What is ADAMO ?

The ADAMO system solution

ADAMO offers a strategy for the organisation of the data throughout the life-cycle of a project; from the analysis of the problem, through the design, coding, testing and operation of the software, down to the inspection of the results.

A system is provided for defining tabular data structures and for manipulating and validating them from FORTRAN, C, or other languages. Being based on Entity-Relationship model, the tabular structures and the relationships between them may be readily represented in pictorial form as an ER diagram. The underlying physical structure is still complex, and indeed it is managed by one of the existing memory managers, but this is of no interest at all to the ADAMO programmer who thinks only in terms of the tables and high level operators.

ADAMO`s strategy for data design and organisation is based on these elements:

This guide presents the use of ADAMO in all these steps and discusses working examples for all of them.
