1 - A quick tour of ADAMO

As an overview to the ADAMO system, we develop a very simple program called polyline. Each step of the process is briefly discussed: from problem identification, to pictorial modelling with Entity-Relationship diagrams, to data structure creation in machine memory, to their manipulation by the program and finally to compiling and running the program itself. The chapter concludes with a brief discussion of a sample interactive data analysis session.
